DESIGN AND TESTING   

QMW Industries use the latest computer drafting or CAD technology to assist us in developing our designs. Designing the canopy is critical, it must be engineered to crumple, or in the case of a ROPS / FOPS bend a little. This is to enable the ROPS to absorb some energy in a Roll Over situation. Australian and International ROPS standards prohibit the use of Finite Element Analysis (FEA) or computer testing to perform tests therefore each new design must be subjected to destructive testing before it can be certified to the relevant standards.

QMW Industries have the facilities and capabilities to perform destructive testing to most makes and models of earthmoving and mining equipment from small loaders up to large dump trucks with a 350 tonne capacity. 

Another important design feature is the overall look when fitted to a particular machine, resale value can be adversely affected by a cheap imitation or poorly designed CANOPY. We take as much care as possible when designing our canopies, not only to allow for compliance to the relevant standards but to follow the natural lines of the machine so that the canopy does not look so intrusive and may even enhance the units appearance.

As this photograph on the right shows, a properly designed and tested canopy can save your life. Although the machine and canopy were badly damaged in this accident the operator was able to walk away unharmed.
